Ammon Cunningham on Monument Valley

December 15, 2016
Blogger and travel enthusiast Ammon Cunningham considers Utah home, but he also wants people to know that his home state features some of the best travel destinations in the United States and the world. One of his favorite places to visit is the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, which is on the Navajo Indian Reservation.

The Navajo Nation is more than 27,000 square miles in all and actually covers parts of Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. One of its most popular and recognizable natural features is Monument Valley, which has been featured in many films and commercials over the years. One of the most popular travel destinations in Monument Valley is called The Valley Drive, a 17-mile dirt road that winds through some of the most spectacular scenery in the park or anywhere.

When a traveler drives the road, they will see many of the greatest sights and formations anywhere. There are many pull-out areas where people can park and view or photograph the spectacular scenery. While it’s possible to venture off this trail, Ammon Cunningham wants you to know that it is in the heart of the desert, so a guide is required and can be arranged at the Monument Valley Visitor Center, near the entrance of the park.
